WOW! Down under, really??! Awesome! You must have even a tougher challenge in letting chickens run free than we do. What's your biggest preditor problem and where are you located? Never talked with someone from there before.

I will look into those Bantams. They're beautiful!. I guess there's no way of separating hens and roosters. I may want to show one day. Was planning on buying a coop from Tractor Supply. Not a home made one.

So what was your setup like? Did you have multiple breeds? I can't quite figure out why anyone would buy pure bred and then mix and match the offspring.

I bought cochin bantams 2 reds, 2 buff, 1 black, 1 blue, 2 gold laced,1 silkie 1 Japanese bantam. 1 barred cochin roo 1 partridge I have 22 eggs in the incubator so I will have mixed bag of coloring... I have a run that is 30x10 coop is 10x6ish

Mmmm, do I want to trade with you? Nope! I read about bears, coyotes, possums, racoons etc etc .. pass!

Our possums are cute and cuddly and only ‘kill’ fruit.

The biggest threat my gals face are the occasional Hawk and overweight, pampered neighbourhood puddy cats or may be the occasional wandering dog.

I work from home so any issues, I am straight out the door.

I live in Queensland, sub tropical but moving to tropical far north Queensland in the coming months. Flying 5 x bantams 1,300kms.

There are lots of critters that can kill ME but the gals are pretty safe

Queensland, is that where Steve Irwin was from? He was the greatest.
Gee, I thought you would be overrun with predictors - cute as they may be. Everything seems to be deadly down there, even the toads! My dogs would be long dead if we lived there. But I sure would love to visit someday.
