Hello! I've had chickens, personally, for almost 2 years. I currently have 6 hens in my flock, and just acquired a 7th...though I'm treating her for scaly leg mites first. 
I have a whole smorgasbord of breeds: a buff orpington, an ISA brown, a Welsummer, two easter eggers crosses, and I'm not 100% sure what my 6th is. She's white with black along her neck & tail, but she's "thin"/aerodynamic-looking. 
The "new" hen that I'm treating for leg mites is a barred rock. I love having chickens because, well, they're just fun, but mostly because I have eggs...no matter what the shelves at the store say. I also enjoy gardening, crocheting, and just being creative. I'm a mom of 2 boys, been married 25 years, and I'm a special education teacher during the school year.
