Newbie here! :-)

Hi all, I have been researching keeping chickens (for eggs) for well over a year now. My goal is to have a nice coop built by the end of the summer; hopefully much sooner! My grandmother had chickens, I have friends that keep chickens but my own bird exp is from having parakeets and cockateils only. The feed stores near me sell young chicks straight from the hatchery so I would be bringing them home when they are fairly small. I was thinking of starting with maybe 3 or 4. Thoughts?

I look forward to getting to know everyone and I am sure I will have a TON of questions! I actually jumped the gun and posted in the Raising Chicks section before posting here.
