Hi all, just wanted to say I am a newbie here! I raised chickens my whole childhood life, growing up on a 5 acre hobby farm with every imaginable chicken breed from the CornishX to the crazy little banties to guinea hens running all over the place! I am now starting my adult chicken raising experience in my backyard with hopes of moving out on to our own little piece of farm land next summer. I will only be able to have 5 hens in town but we do "share" a farm with some friends where there are 100 meat birds coming in 2 weeks and 10-15 new layers +15 or so "seasoned" laying hens and 2 roos. (They own, we help) We have our first hatchling in our basement right now from the incubator this year she/he (my 6yr old daughter is convinced it is a she, since only hens can stay in town) is now 2 weeks old started off as a cripple, could not walk or stand and we nursed it to health for a week and Fluffy is now proudly running all over the place in her little temporary home. There are 10 more eggs in my incubator with only about 10-11 more days to go. Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone! I am looking forward to reading and learning here, looks like lots of experience floating around here.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with your new poultry project and the incubation. Hope Fluffy does turn out to be a pullet!

Welcome to BYC!

So glad Fluffy is doing so well! I hope SHE brings you great joy.

Welcome to our flock and enjoy all your poultry adventures!

Thanks every one! It is nice to be welcomed! I just noticed last night that Fluffy is starting to get her first wing feathers....not many days of the little yellow fluffball left!

They will be barnyard crosses of Cochin, Braum, and Rhode Island Reds. Whatever luck gives us :p
