Hi, I’m new here. I live in central Ohio and am interested in getting into backyard chickens. If anyone has any info or tips for the Granville, OH area, I'd love your help especially!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Total newbie here

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

0, looking to learn before I get into anything

(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Hiking, camping, woodworking.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My wife and I have one toddler and another on the way, as well as a big dumb dog. We are personally interested in raising chickens, but also think it would be a good experience for our kids.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I found this site while trying to look up regulations on backyard chickens in my area, and thought this would be a good place to learn more.

Welcome from Georgia, the Poultry capital of the world (2018).. Glad you have joined this chicken crazy board.
Here is a quick link to the articles area, lots of info on this forum, just look around. Also if you have a specific question the search engine (top right) is actually very good..

Thanks for all the welcome tips, everybody! Before I get too invested, I figure I need to make sure I’m even allowed to have chickens where I live. I’ve searched through zoning ordinances, but couldn’t find anything specific to livestock. Is my best bet just to call the city and ask? I can imagine getting a lot of runaround and non-answers there though. Any advice is helpful!
