Elyria, Oh
Hi yall, Besides corn which my chickens do not seem to care for, what winter foods do chickens like and do they eat hay? If so what kind, as I have laying hens.

They will eat corn, but to get maximum production and health, they should be fed a balanced laying ration.

Welcome to BYC. Too much corn just makes them fat. They really need layer feed with a container of crushed oyster shell if they feel like having more calcium.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X2 on sourland and drumstick diva; treats such as corn should make up less than 10% of a chicken's diet. Commercial feeds are specially formulated to meet all their nutritional needs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
