We both were raised on dairy farms, grandparents had chickens but not us. We moved to our dream acreage 7 years ago. Remodeling is winding down, and the garden is routine, so this was the year to add chickens. In July we got 4, a buff orpington, creme legbar, EE, and olive egger. They are comical, especially when we discovered earlier this week that the crowing is not a lost roster of the neighbors trying to get to our chickens, but our own buff.An internet search brought me to BackYard Chickens, and it has been very helpful over the past year as we planned, and started this chicken adventure.
We are working to me more self sustaining. We love the outdoors and spend as much time as possible outside instead of in. When inside I enjoy sewing and reading to learn.
