We are picking up our desired 11 ladies this weekend, (mostly silverlaced Wyandottes) and Plymouth Rocks. Im building a 4x8 coop, its about 1/2 done,, its on 4- 4x4, 1/2 inch ply floor, gonna laminate it too, outside T11, roof--> ply with metal over that.. Im leaning towards insulating with cardboard (cheap and readily available) to give the coop that extra measure of protection for the brutal winters we have... gonna put up some OSB on the inside,,it's not ply like the T11 outer, think the girls will peck holes in the inner OSB?. gonna install two windows with screens and vents in the peaks.. looking forward to learning more....."chickenshoe"

We are currently running a "coop page" contest, if you're interested in showing us how you built your coop, check it out here:

Welcome to the flock. Rule of thumb is 4-5 sq.feet per bird inside the coop, excluding roosts and nest boxes. Ten sq.feet per bird in the outdoor run. Enjoy your birds
