Welcome to BYC! We have netting over the top of our chicken coop and bricks lining the bottom to stop any digging. One of the breeders near us uses an electric wire around the top and bottom of the coop/ runs.
I just went and priced electric fencing today at TSC and it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! This is a definite possibility so thank you!

I just bought some hardware fencing to put over the two possible spots I think he might’ve come in through. They’re pretty small but I was looking and they can squeeze through some small spots! The bottom is already lined because it was a dog kennel before. Thanks!

Howdy :frow and welcome to BYC!

Short of solid concrete walls, raccoons can get into and damage almost anything. Ft. Knox, is the right approach to predator control, short of a lead pill.:lau

Best wishes to you and your flock!

Hopefully we won’t have to do too many more lead pills because I about cried administering this one lol. I’ve never killed anything before but knew if I let it go that it would come back for more. One of my roos gave me a heart attack last night at 3am. My Shepherds had just went crazy like they saw something (they’re in the house). So I stood there a few mins and didn’t see or hear anything, then just as I reached the bedroom Ernie crowed. False alarm thankfully but I was about in tears thinking I was going to have to kill something again. I’m such a bleeding heart lol
