Good morning,
I live in San Diego (in an area called Mira Mesa) where we cannot have chickens due to a "50 ft clearance in any direction" law. I know there are people working with the city to try and change that, so maybe someday we will be allowed to have chickens on our (very) small homestead.
I grew up in Long Beach on a decent sized lot where my mom raised chickens, ducks and rabbits for meat as well as vegetables from a large kitchen garden. I have a decent sized kitchen garden (in raised beds) that supplies a large part of our vegetables and several citrus trees. I am interested in keeping some chickens for eggs and have been doing a ton of reading on the subject. I have some concerns which I hope to get answered here. (costs of startup, space requirements etc.)
I look forward to "getting to know" you all, in a non-creepy internet stranger kinda way.
Missus C.
