I figured it was time to register on this site. It has been such a wealth of knowledge that has been greatly appreciated since we started raising our egg layers in February. In late fall of last year our family began an adventure when we purchased 135 acres. It has been a learning experience for all of us! We currently have 5 RIRS and 5 Silkies. Unfortunately 4 of the silkies have turned out to be roos but as long as they continue to get a long it's ok as they are mainly pets anyway. We also raised 14 red broilers the past couple of months and just processed them yesterday. That was a great experience and while not everyone was thrilled with the processing part it really brought our family together and we enjoyed the experience. Much of what we have learned has been a trial and error process and we couldn't have done it with out this site.

I hope to continue to increase my knowledge and possibly help out answering questions in the future.

With 135 acres you have room to add ducks, geese, turkeys, pheasants, emu, guineas...guess you can see where this is going :lol:

Your lucky, all my experience has been trial and error...mostly error!:lau nothing like BYC existed when I was starting out. Lots of folks and lots of forums here to help you along the way.
