Hey everyone!
I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to register. I have thirteen girls, Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Black Sex Links, and so on. They are currently in the process of moving from their small indoor cage to their large outdoor coop, a couple girls at a time, since I'm trying to get the younger Olive Eggers used to them, and to keep a couple mean girls away from the younger birds as long as possible.
I have already found that I'm going to need to install some sort of ventilation into the coop to help cool it in the later afternoon. During the day, it sits under the shade of some large trees, and stays fairly comfortable, by human standards. It should be though, since it's insulated with R-15 walls and R-19 ceilings. In the late afternoon, the sun goes directly in a window. The girls aren't laying yet, but I think the time is close.
Some about be me. I'm admittedly a newbie with birds, having only had them since March. It's been kind of a crash course with me taking on do many at once. I'm a single construction worker with no kids. The girls are housed outside at my auto (hobby) shop. The shop holds a few project motorcycles, an old rat rod project and a few other random things.
