Newbie in Utah

So Waaaay up north! Actually, Willard Bay is really nice, fresh water even. If it wasn't over an hour away from my house I'd probably go up there more often. I guess zoning isn't a big problem up there, so hatch away!

bootsuu,

Yup, I was shocked at the zoning in Utah. Where I lived in Virginia, you pretty much couldn't have livestock without a minimum of 5 acres. Every neighborhood had an HOA, and all of them prohibited poultry - which is why I'm so late getting chickens! I managed to sneak my rabbits thru a loophole, since technically they're pets, not livestock

I have three quarters of an acre, and I'm zoned for 2 large animals or 5 small animals (apparently 5 rabbits equal one small animal, and 10 chickens equal one small animal). Weird. I'm not complaining thou... I finally get to have chickens and goats!!

As far as I can tell, they don't care much about rabbits where I am either. I can't have 3 dogs though! Oh noes, the world might end if I had 3 dogs.

My backyard neighbor has like 14 or so chickens, had turkeys in the past, has a bunch of indoor birds. None of that's a problem! But they have to live in fear because they have a Lab and 2 Jack Russell Terriers. Stupid stupid. Their dogs don't bark, aren't a nuisance at all.

As a matter of fact, the reason I'm thinking of eating my Roo (Kellog) is so that he doesn't bring unwanted attention down on my neighbor. I'd feel horrible if it was my Roo that caused him to have to get rid of one of his puppies.
