Newbie Incubation Goof ; Will They Make It?

We have 3 of 5 hatched now and one that's been trying. Beak out of shell since 9pm last night & very little progress. The broken membrane is beginning to dry so I'm going to try to assist.

I did. It seemed unable to move its head enough to progress at all. I assisted. It's leg was tangled up & it had started to get shrink wrapped around the head & eye. It's out now. The leg & foot are a little twisted.

See if the warm paper towel can help. Those we asist can have a harder time of things

Well, I'm happily stunned - Stunned! - that all 5 hatched. #4 had to be assisted & isn't out of the woods yet, but getting stronger & the contorted leg/knee/foot are correcting as the chick uses them.
The other 4 were uneventful & doing well so far. I'll post an update/ pics soon.

Still concerned about the one who needed help, but the way the leg was contorted & the head stuck I doubt it would've hatched unassisted. I did the math, 22 hrs with beak protruding out of shell, couldn't get back inside to zip. Wondering if this was caused by the 104° (?). At least it has a chance now, & I'm just glad none of the others seem affected by that spike.

Just for fun, here's an update at 1week old. PeeWee, the assisted hatch, is second from the bottom. Kept in the incubator & hand fed til day 4 when she (?) was big enough to go in the brooder with the others. Everyone's doing great now.
