Hi, I just joined - that's probably obvious
- and the welcome message pointed me over here.
I live in the red rock country of Southern Utah, a transplant from Central California. This spring, my brother and I decided to get chickens, and this is one of the websites we used a lot in our initial research. We live in a semi-rural area, with a small orchard, and my brother, being the gardener of the family, maintains a large and varied collection of veggies.
In March, we got six chicks total - two Golden Sex Links, two Rhode Island Reds, and two Australorps. They started laying last month, and have been quite the little go getters! We've already had to start giving away eggs. My brother built our coop, combining a large dog house and an old chest of drawers for the nesting area. It was quite ingeniuos, and the chickens appear to love their digs.
Other than our chickies, we have cats, a dog, and two parrots. I love to cook, and hope to have my own small restaurant one day. I also dabble in photography, and love to travel.
