Hello I'm new to BYC, I don't have chicks or hens yet but I'm ready to get some I already have a spot in the back yard ready with a coop and all. I'm just looking for the right bird! When I was younger I had an Ameraucana and she was the most beautiful bird I had ever seen, so I'm looking along the lines of getting a couple more. I really like the blue and the blue wheaten but they have been difficult for me to find. Hopefully I found the right spot to start my coop.

Any spot should be okay for a coop, as long as it's big enough. There is no grass, just dirt in weeds, in my coop area and the chickens love it.

Welcome to the site Amerucanas are really pretty we have one and shes the Rarity (my little pony character) of the coop; always showing off. But good luck with your coop and chicks/hens! Have you tried craigslist for any hens? There may be some floating around there~

I have tried craigslist but the only ones I find are easter eggers :/ and other breeds that don't really interest me. thank you for your suggestion!
