Newbie Looking for Feedback

Hi all. I recently aquired 6 young Coturnix quail for egg purposes. I'm thinking that it's too soon to tell, but I would like to get your thoughts about possible gender. I'm pretty sure that the one in the first picture is a girl, but I'm not sure about the others.

I'm sorry, I can't make out their plumage this young, you may have to wait a week or two?

Number one definitely looks like a girl. I can't see any flecks of rust which is the first tell tale sign of a boy (pharaoh boys have spotty chests too until the rust colour takes over). The white and the 'british range' (#3) you will have to wait until they mature and see whether they crow or start laying as there is no way to sex them visually. Some boys start crowing as early as 4 weeks old so you don't have long to wait. I'm not familiar with the other three colours (we have a very limited range of colours in my country) so I can't help you there but they are very pretty. Do update as they get bigger.

Not to think that you are wrong but I thought that the only way to sex them was to check their butt.

Pharaoh and Italian colours can be sexed visually. Females have a spotted chest, males have a solid coloured chest.
