Hi, I am a complete newbie, so any advice would be much appreciated!!
This is my first try at incubating eggs. I took the advice of a you tuber and did the water heater thermostat with the larger holes that I drilled.
Surprisingly it has held fairly steady temps. Of course I may upgrade to a wafer next time.
Anyway I have a question regarding the eggs air cell size. The eggs you see below are on day 17. I was planning on lockdown tomorrow morning, however I am concerned the air cell size may be too small. I am in Houston, and humidity is a killer here!! I have kept the humidity in check pretty well(I think)
I have not heard any sound from them yet(not that I would know what it sounds like), however my 2 Aussies are very sensitive to sound and they haven't paid any attention to the incubator.
Ok, so back to the question, should I hold off on lockdown for another 24 hours or just put the pointy silkie egg in a egg carton?

Hmm, I thought the images would upload. I have the pics in my personal album on this website!! I will keep trying to get the pics of the eggs on here

I took a look at your incubation photos and the air cells look right on target for lockdown. Now get your hatching humidity up and happy hatching!

One more question:
I am having trouble keep humidity up past 50%
I filled the bottom so full with water that it ended up soaking into the cloth the eggs were set on up above. I panicked and pulled the eggs out, dried the area and lined it with dry cloth and set eggs back in same position.
Should I cover some vent holes?
I don't want to open the lid again, however I am thinking I should add a sponge?
This is crazy, I live in a really humid area and I can't seem to get enough humidity!
