newbie on chicks and NEED HELP!

a farm close to my house is selling the most adorable little chicks, but i have no idea...
~if their male or female( i do not want a rooster)
~what kind they are(breed)
~and how to tell


any help i can get is needed!

Well...you would really need to post pics...breeds could probably be pegged w/pics, but if they're really little, there's a strong chance that you won't know sex yet... repost w/pics if possible.

If you are getting them from a farm, they are "straight run" - you will get a rooster or two (or 5).

If you must have only hens, either buy hens or order sexed pullets from a hatchery. As someone that has gone to great trouble & expense to re-home little roosters, I would recommend ordering pullets.
