When I got up this morning one of my chicks didn't move when I walked past the brooder (they are skittish so I figured something was wrong). I picked her up and she was pretty limp. I put her on the table and she pooped and it was really runny, she also had a hard time sitting up. She also has some bare spots around her neck/top of her wings, I'm not sure if this is from pecking or what. The spots didn't really look infected/red or anything. I checked the forum (I've been reading for a couple of months now, but just joined today) and I gave her some sugar water and put her in a separate brooder with some food and water. She pepped up a little bit and was looking around, but she still isn't walking. I'm worried and not really sure what to do....

Thanks for any help

Oh, she's a black copper maran.

Chicks are so hard to diagnose. You did the right thing by separating her and giving her sugar water. How is the temp where she is? Make sure you dip her beak into the sugar solution so she knows where it is. If you have an extra chick waterer give that to her. I've seen a difference in the amount chicks will drink if the water is in a red container.

Chickens are very sociable. Give her a balled up sock or small stuffed toy to cuddle with.
Watch your other chicks closely in case they show any signs of being ill.

Are you feeding them medicated feed or non-medicated? Were they vaccinated for Mereks?

I'm feeding them medicated food and I'm not sure if they were vaccinated or not. I got them at a poultry show and didn't ask and they didn't tell me.

The temp in the room is around 80.

Can you get some PolyViSol infant vitamins without iron? I would try giving her some of that to see if she perks up as well. You can get the vitamins at any grocery store.

She seems to be doing a lot better this morning! She ate a bunch of food and drank and is walking around. I think maybe one of the other chicks may have just trampled her and knocked her silly or something.
