newbie question about free-range broody chicken

All is well - Miss Broody wonderously appeared, thank goodness. Just waiting on the tarp from my husband now!

Thanks to everyone for their help - thought I'd give you a quick update. We attached the 10X10 pen, with a tarp. They were quite miffed at first.

We've been leaving the eggs in that they lay all day - to remind the beginners what to do, and where to do it. Ditched the plastic eggs, and put in a few golf balls. I think they like the golf balls -they usually lay the eggs with them. So we went for 3 eggs a day to 7 today!! 2 were laid on the coop floor - but I'm not surprised - the floor is shavings, like their nesting box. I just put them in the nesting boxes with the others. We've been keeping them "cooped up" until 1pm, and then letting them loose. So far, it's been a great plan. Thank you so much for all the good advice and tips - they've really helped us!
