Hello All - we have lived in our home for 12 years and we are just now refurbishing a chicken coop/mini barn so we can have chicks!! I have a question about the older type silver nesting boxes. Do they just need to be cleaned up and then they are ready to use? They do have perching bars (not sure if that is the right term) running across the front of them. Any help at all would be very useful!! We are soooo excited!

You probably want to clean out he coop/boxes pretty well before introducing new birds. You never know what bugs could be hiding in there

Thanks for replying so quickly, what is the best way to clean them? Is bleach too harmful? And are the roosting bars in front of the nesting boxes enough or do we need to put in more?

You dont want them roosting near the boxes. Poop central.

Bleach water is fine, just make sure you rinse everything down & there are not puddles for the chooks to drink beach water from.
