What is the difference between "scratch" and "mash"? Right now, I have 2 x 5-week old chicks and 4 x 10 day old chicks. All are given starter crumbles to supplement their foraging.

Thanks, in advance, for helping a newbie out.

Okay, I'll do my best to answer this!

Mash is the same as pellet feed. Pretty much it's the consistency that makes it mash (powdery). Mash is what pellets & crumble are made from, just in its original form.

Scratch consists of things like corn chops, grains, seeds, etc...

Mash is a complete ration
Most Scratch Grains mixes are a in-complete ration
