Hello, I am wating for my incubator to come in the next few days, and I have a question, before I do my first hatchig. How long do I need to keep the eggs before putting them in the incubator? Some people said right after they are laid from the hens, some people told me no longer than a week, some people said it doesn't matter. I have my own laying hens and I am planning to use those eggs for hatching the chichens, the uncubator will be a Genesis 1588.

I would suggest collecting a bunch and setting them all at once. I try to set the freshest eggs I have, usually shooting for under a week. How many do you want to set and how long will it take you to gather that number? The one week is not a hard and fast rule, my Rouen duck recently hatched out 15 ducklings. Laying an egg a day, at most, the oldest egg was at least 15 days old and every egg hatched.
