I'm very new to chickens, and we've had our little flock for 2 days now. I am truly fascinated by them, and love to just sit in their run and hang out with them.

We live in the NW corner of CT, moved here almost 3 years ago. When we bought a house with land last year, we decided we'd get chickens one day. I looked online for hens, and found a woman rehoming a flock of Icelandics. I didn't know how rare they were until I looked them up. We'll definitely hatch some eggs at some point, but for now, we are truly enjoying our 11 week old babies.

! Great to have you aboard! Congrats on your chickens! Is there is a rooster in the batch so you can hatch purebreds? One bit of advice? I can't tell on your run if that is just chicken wire on or if around the bottom there is something more substantial. Chicken wire is great for containing chickens but not good at keeping eager predators out. Just a consideration. Good luck to you!

Thanks! We are adding an apron today and they will be locked in the coop every night. We actually have 3 roosters, which I'm sure will become a problem. We do want to hatch some pure Icelandics. They are 11 weeks old and super cute!

you may want to subscribe to the thread on ICELANDICS. They strongly urge keeping the lines pure with no mixing with other breeds, roosters. They are also notorious escape artists and great foragers.
