I feel like I need a 12-step program, I'm addicted to my chicks and I'm all over the place with them. Two questions 1) My oldest chicks are approximately 15 weeks old - is it too early to take them to a show? am I wasting my time by taking them at this point and should wait until they are older? How old?, 2) My little partridge silkie roo has turned into such a "hen obsessed" roo (if you know what I mean) at 15 weeks, to the point that he is annoying all of the hens. While checking him over for the show today, I see that the older roo has bit off one of the points on the little silkie's comb. I know they don't grow back, but does this totally eliminate him from ever making a good show?

Thanks so much for your input. I am totally ignorant and want to learn from all of you experts.

There are several dedicated silky threads - if you put Silkie thread in the search box I'm sure you will find them. What is the ratio of cockerel to pullets? If there are too few females they can get overbred. Some BYCers make and sell 'chicken aprons,' as they are called to protect the hens back so the rooster doesn't do as much damage.
