Hello everyone!

First of all, I am so appreciative of this website. I have been reading for months in preparation for my flock and this has been BY FAR the most helpful resource! So thank you all!

Tonight I will be picking up my first chickens, two buff orphingtons and two australorps. And this weekend I will be building their coop. I'm copying a design I found on the internet, so we will see how it goes. I live just outside of Los Angeles so heat will be much more of an issue than cold. Plus, we have lots of predators to keep an eye out for.

I'm very excited to get started! Now to think of names....

You have some great egg layers there. And, possible broody's some day. Names? You
will have fun watching those personalities come out, then come up with them, or go with a theme
like many do. There are sites on here also that show plans for coops. I will see if I can find a couple..or one. :)

This site is great, at least to me, because I love photos of others coops. There are 32 pages to this one, go through them and see the different coops. Fun stuff. :)

Welcome! And build that coop bigger than you think you need. It's hard to stop adding chicks once you start.

Yes, make it larger than you think you will need - otherwise you be making additions or added coops. You will get more and more chickens. That's the side effect of chicken addict. Welcome to the flock
