Newbie to Backyard Chickens

Very excited to join the world of backyard chickens and very nervous too. Just received our 1st group of chicks - 7 to be exact and they are too cute. I have been on here more then once just gathering advise on how to get started, what they eat, keeping them warm and all of the other steps along the way and it has been so very helpful for this nervous new owner. They are all hens, as due to town ordinance we can't have a rooster, so eggs it will be for now. Think it's time to get my hubby to move out further into the country. I look forward to learning all the great little tips and tricks and hopefully one day sharing my own.

WELCOME! Talk him into that move soon. Time goes by. I talked about it for years..now we are where we will stay. I like it here though. . Can't have the animals I want, but I'm happy.

Thank you!! I also like where we are but certainly would like a little more land to possibly have a couple of miniature goats too someday. But for now I am very happy with chickens and that he is on board with all of my crazy ideas.

There are frequently sexing errors in sexed chickens. You will need a plan to rehome any cockerels if you end up with one or more.
