Chirping
Hello to everyone. (Into below, query first.) I have a chick that is non-stop chirping… despite my best efforts at everything in the environment being ok. Situation: This chick required assistance after having cracked and then chipped away about 1/8 + of its shell; after 48 hours and the membrane drying out around it, I chipped away about 1/4 of the remaining shell membrane and it worked itself all the way out from there. It took a bit of time for it to spread out and move uprightly and then it began strangely shaking its head/twitching quite often until I gave it vitamin infused water/hydration. The twitching stopped shortly thereafter. It is walking a bit unsteady as new chicks do at first. It’s other behaviors are seemingly normal, but it was then, and still is, constantly chirping!!
I left it in the incubator until it was fluffed out and otherwise appearing stable. The other 4 chicks hatched a day prior and had been moved to the brooder, I figured he may just be lonely —because the incubator was regulating the temperature well and he seemed otherwise ok. You can see his buddies are well adjusted and thriving, they are active when not spooning. (See photo

Do you have any thoughts on why the nonstop chirping, or what I could do to remedy the situation?
History: We built a new coop this summer only to lose our varied breed flock (of 3 years) this fall, it was a rough time. They were pets as much as livestock.
After feeling much discouragement I decided to build up another flock and purchased from a reputable breeder several Dutch Bantams that are healthy and happy and laying well. I’ve gathered and incubated eggs and hatched out 5 chicks this week to expand my little flock.
We have had chickens in years past and it’s been fun having them again. They have roamed our forested acreage and made life interesting for us.
We have 3 dogs and 3 cats who all got along well with the previous flock, they would interact without being predatory… It was fun to see. That won’t be an option with these little bantams but we will enjoy them in their home had run. They lay eggs consistently and plenty enough for our family.
