Lol. I was referring to layer as grain.. I grain my horses so figured terminology was the same ;) I'll pick up the layer and mix with the starter.. Grabbed some oyster shell and I noticed they were all chowing down. :) Thank you for your responses!!!
 
Welcome. Congratulations on your first two eggs at your chickens' age. If I ever order from a hatchery again, I will probably choose Meyer's. I hear lots of good things about them. The last two birds I got from my end of April shipment just started laying this week, so that was exciting. The first started over three months ago, different breeds) so it was a loooong wait.

Congrats on the first eggs! They will get thicker, bigger and more healthy as the birds grow. It takes a while for their egg laying machines to really get into gear.

Meyers was great. They gave us a free chick but unfortunately she didn't make it after days. I think she had a neuro issue. Other than that they all were super healthy and cute!

I must admit. I'm checking almost every hour for more eggs!! :). So exciting!

We purchased them in august from Meyer Hatchery. So I'm guessing I need to pick up grain today too?? I know, I know, stupid newbie questions!! I'm very familiar with livestock but chickens is another bird. But hey, we did have one with a broken leg and all is well

You're welcome, and yes, you need to get them on layer feed ASAP. My wife and I grew up not too far from you (Blue Ridge for her, Greenville for me), and I have relatives living in Weatherford, TX.
 
We live north of weatherford.. Small world. Came home from picking up my munchkin to our 3rd perfect egg!!!! Woohoo!!
