I'm a newbie that hasn't even received her chicks yet...hopefully Wednesday! I'm just trying to figure out some stuff so when the roo's get here I don't go nuts!

I thought roo's crowed when the sun was coming up to wake the farm? Obviously either I'm wrong or the idiot roo next door doesn't know what he's doing! He starts around 4:30 or 5:00am every morning...and then NUMEROUS times during the day. Are all roo's like this? HELP!

Rooster's crow when ever they feel like it.

Some are. Some have annoying noise that hardly passes for crowing. Some are wonderful. Some are like a fog-horn. Some are like Pavarotti. Just depends on the Roo.

We had one who almost never crowed. Maybe he was lazy, he let everybody else do the crowing. Like, "Hey, while you're up..."

In the city or 'burbs, you can expect the roosters to crow all night, too, because they tend to respond to every noise. We had neighbors with screaming children all night, our roos' chimed in every time. Ambulances and car alarms get them going, too. And like true idiots, they crow to coyotes, like "here! over here! can you hear me? Over HERE!"

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!! I guess I need to get a large supply of ear plugs huh? I holler at the one next door to shut up, like I would do to a barking dog (of which I have 3 and they hardly EVER bark). He does for like 10 seconds....

I have to work on an essay about "Why I Love My Rooster". Lots of people love their roo's.

But maybe, just like everything else, once in awhile a bad roo happens, and that's the only roo that ever made the evening news; but my roosters are something like Beverly Hills Chihuahuas, they make very good pet birds.

Good luck with yours!

Mine crows many times throughout the day not really sure what for.... I've looked out the window many times to see if something was up, nothing! However he is a total sweet heart and I love him lots.... roo's make a flock way more interesting. Good luck and enjoy!
