Howdy from Texas! New to BYC! I just purchased my babies a week and half ago. Introducing .... Barbie and Flower.... (just praying they are hens). They are approx 6 weeks old (give or take week because the breeder was unsure of the hatch date) Buff orpingtons

I'm trying to figure out what's in your picture. Are there just two birds pictured? I ask because the body nearest the front - looks like it has no feathers on the back half, and I don't think a chicken can turn it's head around enough to look that way. I have to think it is either younger than you think, or it's a male because it is so slow to feather out. What I see of the bird behind it looks like a pullet.

They are both feathered. Just a fuzzy rear.

I am pretty sure I have a pullet and a roo. Just by their mannerisms. The one that I think is a roo stand big and proud. But time will tell.
