(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I had a pair of hens about 15 years ago for a few months. I grew to love fresh eggs and the taste of free range eggs. Now I have a neighbor who was forced to stop raising chickens and I have accepted the ones she was unable to rehome

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I think there is a total of 15, ten hens and 5 Roos, but i think one of the hens is actually a Roo

(3) What breeds do you have? No idea. Two dark brown hens, a speckled black and white rooster, a silver and white hen and rooster, 6 light brown and white hens, two beautiful red and green males and two tiny tan and white boys.

Glad you're here ! If you post pics of your chickens, we can probably tell you the breeds!!!

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Congrats on your windfall of chickens. As mentioned, be prepared in case you need to downsize the number of roos. Feel free to share pics if you have the inclination ;) We all love pics. ETA Awesome! We posted at the same time!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this thread. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes.
