Hi and Welcome!
Im gonna add my 2 cents here and recommend Easter Eggers! These birds are wonderfully calm and sweet, and are very quirky! I have 5 at the moment, and they are all a joy! lots of different colors and variety in plumage and of course their beards and muffs make them wonderfully unique. oh yea and they lay eggs anywhere from a light blue to a nice green! Mine lay an egg almost everyday!
enjoy the your new flock!
Easter eggers? I guess I'm really a newbie! I didn't know that their was such a breed to lay different colored eggs. Are they docile and feel like they could be handled by children who would help me care for them? Are they noisy?
Best wishes and have lots of fun!
and Welcome to Backyard Chickens.
to have you here with us. Enjoy your time here at BYC!
Nice to have you here! I have a mixed flock too.... Easter Eggers, Gold Laced Wyandottes, Salmon Faverolle, Speckled Sussex, Barred Rock are some of the breeds I found to be easy and pretty good layers. Now you can have individuals that don’t quite match the breed description but in general they are nice birds
