I will be raising Icelandic chicks. This is my first time raising any chickens. I like them for their clucking, bug control, and eggs. I hope it will be very rewarding. I welcome any advice. I live in Maine, Zone 5.

Icelandics were very popular several years ago. They are noted to be excellent foragers, and alert to predators. Would love to see photos if/when you have some.

Icelandics are a land race and as such can differ in appearance from one to another, etc.

I love your intro even down to your gardening zone. Please consider adding that to your profile as my environment differs from yours greatly. You may have a chicken question in the future and that makes all the difference between good advice and bad. I doubt you would ever start tomatoes in November right? We do because that is our season from Nov to April.
