we built a 5ft chain link fence around the coupe and i haven't tried keeping the gate shut yet. i have been leaving it open to try and make them think this is the only way out. when the weather is nice i will close it and see if they stay in. i wonder how long it will take before they figure out they can fly over it.....we have kept the roosters to protect the hens through the winter. we lost 3 to hawks and a coyote. we also have lots of stray cats out here and the roosters give them a run for their money. i was hoping not to give him away b/c i am afraid of what might happen to him. there is a guy nearby who has a lot of roosters tied to chains outside barrels and i don't even like to think of what would happen if he got a hold of "rocky" my barred rock rooster. i guess if the fence doesn't work i will have to find him a new home for my kids sake. :0( funny thing is he won't attack our pomeranian dog who chases the chickens.
