Newbies -- eggs in bator all set to hatch on different days

I know alot of BYCers have done staggered hatches, and I just want to throw this in about not turning the eggs from days 18-21. In a bator that has no turner, and you have a staggered hatch, the eggs that are due to hatch first pop out and roll the others around like crazy that are supposed to be in their 18-21 day no turn period. Hmmmm. I'm just saying that for us, it didn't hurt a thing.

Napolean... perfect!! Poor guy... we've had a big learning curve with these chickens. We started with 12 barrred rock chicks. One morning came out to 5. We're assuming that was a raccoon. Then we put the coop in the backyard and put our lab out at night to keep coons away. A few nights... all was well. Then suddenly the lab developed a taste for chicken and got several more. We went back and got some more chicks and that's when we also got the Nankins. They are definitely my favorites.

Their temperaments (the Nankins) are great. Really nice and calm and gentle. Couldn't ask for a better rooster my first time out.

Thanks for all the encouraging words about the staggered hatch. I have two that are supposed to hatch today, although pretty sure one is a dud. But there is no movement so far from either egg. I'm not having high hopes about today's eggs. Then I have one due tomorrow, one the next day, and one the next day.

Then, we have two different batches due on June 6 and June 9.

Ugh... I won't do this again.
