(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I grew up with chickens. Lots of them. But have not had them as an adult yet. We are building our coop, have chicks ordered to arrive in about 3 weeks. EXCITED!!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 12 on order. Might pick up a few more locally.

(3) What breeds do you have? I have several ordered. All docile breeds.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Internet search

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, landscaping.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Hubby and I have 2 black and white Cocker Spaniels, Jack and Joey. Jack is 10 and has been around chickens. He lays there and allows the chicks to climb on him. Very calm and loving. Joey, he is 1 year old and has never been around chickens. He will need some training. Hubby and I have our own business. We make our own schedule. We are both REALLY excited about having chickens for eggs and meat. We know how to care for them, and butcher them when needed. But, we also will be falling in love with those girls and plan to have them around us all the time.

Welcome to Backyard chickens!

You will get back to raising them very quickly. I was raised taking care of chickens and it too me 35 years to get my flock as an adult.

Love it!

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)

G'Day from down under rkchicks :frow Welcome! Very exciting :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. This one may be of particular interest to you:
Topic of the Week - Dogs and chickens

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
