First to answer the newbie pop quiz (I would have studied if I had known there was going to be a test!)
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we took possession of our 6 - 6 week old Heritage Road Island Reds this afternoon.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We are starting with 6 - 5 hens and a rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Heritage Road Island Reds.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Combination of internet search (Google) and the recommendation of the individual we purchased our chicks from (Sawmill Chicken Farm in Live Oak, FL)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We are newly retired and have just moved onto our 11 1/2 acres in the country. Our intent is to put together a combination a poly-culture of chickens, goats, garden, and orchard in a paddock system - I expect that will take most of our "hobby" time. This is for "fun" and not profit.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well, counting the 6 new members today, there are now 11 of us, a Yellow Lab, a Shih-Tzu, a White Socks siamese cat, and of course us - Frank and Sharon. We have been married 3 years.
We look forward to annoying everyone with a LOT of newbie questions are we put this all together.
Frank and Sharon
