Quarantine distance is generally 500 ft with the new birds kept downwind from the old birds.
Original birds are cared for first followed by the new birds. That way anything that may be infecting the new birds aren't transported to the original birds.
Respiratory illnesses can travel quite far.

Thank you I’ve been looking for that online ever since we got these two as 2 day old chicks. After the first week of loveliness with them , we knew we’d be adding more to the little flock.
