We had a EE chick hatch about 3 hours ago. He can't sit up and if we pick him up and help him sit he just puts his head back and he falls on his back. Is this normal? He a pretty active and chirps a lot and also moves his legs a lot he just cant seem to sit. He is the 2nd one to hatch (the other is normal and sitting fine)

i would suggest you find something that you can prop this chick up against to help support his head and see if you can slide some sugar into his water for a little extra energy, your going to have to watch this little guy closely since he cant support his head he will not be able to eat or drink, and sorry to say in alot of these cases it is sometimes smart to cull a chick instead of having to go threw the pain, but if you are up to hold its neck so it can eat and drink then i say power to you and good luck with him/her

It's only a couple hours old. Just wait. Give him some time. They don't even need to eat or drink for a day or two, while absorbing the yolk. Wait it out. I think it will be ok.
