newborn kitten advice

It really shouldn't cry a great deal. Just start rooting around when it gets hungry. I would feed it before it starts crying. Should mostly sleep and eat. As long as it eats, pees/poops, and grows you're doing all you can.

thanks everyone for the suggestions. I wish we had a shelter all we have is a dog pound and they would surely put him to sleep if I took him there. I am prepared for the loss of him if he doesnt make I will at least know that he died warm and someone cared for him. He doesnt have the degree of diarreah he had yesterday it has now changed to yellow with just a tinge of blood and not as runny so maybe we are making some progress. I have had trouble getting him to eat today though the last time he ate was at 3:30 am and he hasnt really ate much since I gave him a drop of corn syrup to hopefully raise his blood sugar and maybe get him interested in food. Im gonna go try again hopefully this time he will be hungry. thanks for all the advice and support I will keep you all updated.

hang in there, honey, you're doing a great job.

have you tried making a 'sock momma' by filling a sock with dry/uncooked rice and microwaving for a minute or two? my baby loved it and it was kind of like snuggling a momma cat.

i also let her sleep on me under my shirt when i was watching tv etc (basically kind of in my bra) so she could hear my heartbeat.

let us know how its going thru today. i know its tough - they are so little and fragile.

we are still hangin in there he drank about 3 cc's just now so im hoping that just by getting a little bit down him every couple of hours he can make it untill he gets stronger. His poo is now pretty much back to normal so thats good. I didnt think about the rice thing I will try that, right now I have a heating pad on low folded up on one side so it is only under half of the box and he snuggles between that and a stuffed animal I gave him.

great news! keep up the good work!

the sock mommy thing works really well b/c it holds the heat for a looooooong time (but dont get it too hot!). the funny thing is, that now my bottle baby is 3 years old and she still loves one particular sock! she carries it around and 'talks' to it. its very cute

sounds like things are looking up! great job!

Good news for the kitten! He is doing much better today and is eating actively at every meal. I didnt get to try the rice yet I realized that I didnt have any and forgot to get it tonight when I went to the store. So I made him a hot water bottle and wrapped it for him to snuggle with for now.
Here is a picture of him He is so adorable I can already tell he will have a forever home with us

It's so nice of you to take the little guy in and care for him. It isn't easy when they are that young.
I have hand raised kittens with goats milk and they do really well. I also put some powdered probiotics in the milk to keep their bellies working right. You can get a good sized jar of it at Tractor supply for about $8 and it can be used on any animal. If you can't get it you can try some unflavored or vanilla flavored yogurt. But, the probios work faster than the yogurt if they get the runs.
Great Job!

Aww! i so hope he makes it!
