Newborn

Today two hens hatched one egg. One hen ran off and the other tried to kill the chick. Now the new chick is in the house with a heat light. I have a separate coop with a silkie that has one week old chicks. Is it possible that she would adopt the new baby? Or should I wait a week and then try?

Hi and welcome to BYC. I'm not an expert in that kinda thing, but a day old chick would not stand a good chance against week old chicks. I'm sure momma is taking her chicks out and about already - not something that a day old chick would cope with very well.
