Thank you for accepting my membership! I've had chickens for about 2 years now. I got them mainly for eggs. Now, it doesn't matter if they lay or not! I have 2 Americaunas that haven't laid in months. I only have 3 chickens. 2 Americaunas and 1 black Australorp. All 3 are hens and will be 2 years old, this May. I also have a dog that is 7 years old. I am retired and live in Florida. I've been married for 29 years and have 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. We're expecting a third great grandchild in about 3 months! We love love love our chickens too! I look forward to getting to know more chicken families!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!
If they are only 2, they will start laying eggs again soon. Molting at 1.5 years old and low winter light will make them stop laying eggs

Thank you! My best layer is my Black Australorp (Chica) and she was laying until about 2 weeks ago. I don't use lighting to force egg laying. If they lay, it's a bonus!
