I saw there is a list of questions, so I'll go by those.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Don't have any chickens, thinking about it.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Don't have any
(3) What breeds do you have?
Want to know how hard it is raising them in Florida with Raccoons and Opossums.


(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a writer, and a Master Gardener, do Ham Radio on the weekend.

Found BYC by doing a search on the internet. Hope to learn tons. Any questions please feel free to ask.

When living in FL a few years back, I had a flock. One of the biggest challenges is the heat and humidity as well as the predators you mention. You'll want an large open-air coop (so there's no crowding) with extra ventilation. Use hardware cloth with a buried apron to protect from predators and a covered run (I had a lot of hawks around). Don't let anyone talk you into a mister, with all the humidity natural to FL, you don't need extra moisture causing more problems with mold and mildew.
