Hello all, from Southern Indiana!
I'm a Home Educating mother of 9 and we have 16 little button quail eggs incubating as we speak. The older kids and I successfully hatched 1 of 4 eggs TEN years ago and I'm trying it again with the newest brood in our crew. This time we built an incubator and have until the 22nd of April to stop turning them.
I have told my kiddos that IF these guys hatch they will all be deformed mutants because we keep making one mistake after another!

1. My dh kept putting off helpin me with last part of making our incubator, even though I was in panic mode from the moment I hit the send on the PayPal button! Needless to say , they arrived early and he was forced to finish while they were making their opening act in room temperature . Not having it up for days ahead of time was torture for me and nearly ended my marriage ! (Jk, we r cool NOW)

2. I can't seem to keep the temp and humidity consistent. I've seriously lost sleep every night since they arrived.

So, I will comb through the archives for advice but I'm doubting I will find a forum for rescue from complete failure.

Looking forward to meeting the members of this community!

Wish me cluck, I mean luck !

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

Best to get an incubator running steady before even thinking about the eggs - especially homemade ones. Dont be discouraged if things dont go well this time, just take some time to get your bator running right and try again.

It's day 13 and seriously feel like I'm gonna puke! I'm so nervous it ridiculous.
I'm telling ya, I have literally given birth 8 times and I feel so much more stressed. Could be because u have never been "pregnant" with 16 babies at once. Could me the 8 pair of anxious eyes watching intently and praying

for their new babies. Could be the flu I feel comin on, as my youngest ran a fever all night and my head is buzzing?!

Hi all! Still brooding over here on day 16.
Do the eggs start jumping around before they start hatching?
