Newby question

I had a few 5 day old chick's with pasty but that I was cleaning last night and noticed a bump that looked like a old closed up hole. My question is, is this like a belly button like on human babies? I'm sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I have never had babies this young before. Please don't laugh. Oh ok you can laugh. If that's really what it is and it nothing serious.

Not a silly question at all! I'm full of them...trust me! From what you say it could very well be their little 'belly button' .. keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected...good luck in your chickie venture!!

That is most likely what it is. I have noticed on a few of my chicks, they still have a piece of dried umbilical cord attached. Almost mistook it for poop

It is not far from the vent.
