Hello! I ordered some quail hatching eggs online and when it finally got dark and I had a minute, I candled them and 11 of the 20 look blue inside! I've hatched geese, ducks, and turkeys so I'm used to the pinkish tint when you candle fresh eggs but I've never seen blue before. I'm not sure if it could possibly be because of the shipping or if they're already bad? The other 9 look pinkish. Is it just a quail thing that their eggs can look blue on the inside when candled atwas the beginning? All of the eggs are coturnix quail, white shells with brown spots if it matters. I'm just not sure how closely to compare hatching quail to other birds that I do have experience with. Thank you in advance for any insight or hints you can give!

Sometimes the inside layer of shell is blue, so bluish tint when candling is normal. I have Coturnix quail and sometimes they look like that. Just depends on the hen that laid the egg.

Thank you! I would hate to think I was already over half down and I'm just starting incubating.:wee
