Hi Im Bonny and new to this site. My daughter introduced me to BackYard Chickens to learn more about raising them. I just got my first coop and it came with 7 chickens and a mean as heck rooster. At least he is too me. I have two golden comets and 5 barred rock hens and this rooster is a barred rock. He hates me, bottom line. I have tried being dominant and defend myself but he literally just attacks me. Should I get rid of him or what would y'all suggest. How do I show him who's boss or maybe how do I show him Im boss?

There is no reason to have a mean rooster. Either rehome or freezer camp, roo's make a fine soup!

Hello and welcome to BYC. I personally dont have a rooster for my 5 hens and 6 pullets for that exact reason, I didnt want to have to worry about a grumpy rooster. Our girls wouldnt let me send it to freezer camp if it needed, so I just avoid the issue.
