I am new to all things chicken. I have in the last 48 hours hatched two chicks but the one chick that hatched first is now picking on the newest chick. I tried all the recommendations to stop the aggressive chick which didn't work so I shut the room up to make it dark and all is now quiet and i'm hoping that in the morning they will be better. Any thoughts?

Welcome to BYC. Chicks pick at things - it's how they learn their world. Unless excessive and blood is being drawn, I'd let it run its course. Put a mirror in there for the chick to pick at - scatter feed on the floor of the brooder - put objects in the brooder to distract.
